Åkersviks School is a smaller school for grades 5-9 where everyone knows each other and where we have many adults around our students.

Your contribution as a school counselor

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in the school's mission and who wants to contribute to the psychosocial work for a health-promoting school development. As a school counselor, you will be part of the school's student health team in close collaboration with the principal, school nurse, school psychologist, and special educator/special teacher. Your role also includes responsibility for monitoring attendance. With experience in student social work and the ability to build long-lasting relationships, you will become an important cog in the student health work alongside students, guardians, educators, and colleagues in student health. Collaboration both internally and externally is an important part of your work. The position involves varied work where you will work in different ways to promote, prevent, and address psychosocial issues. You will support educators at the school in their work with our students. You will often be in contact with social services as well as with community services, culture/leisure, and your colleagues in the municipality's other primary schools. We are convinced that good relationships are directly crucial for our students to succeed and feel good. Therefore, you will also actively work to build good relationships with students and staff in hallways, break rooms, and the cafeteria.

Your qualifications and experience

To apply for this position, you should be a qualified social worker or have equivalent education assessed as equivalent by the employer. You have a good ability to work both independently and collaboratively. You are proactive in development and have the ability to carry out and complete tasks. You have a good ability to create relationships with our students and their guardians. You are also comfortable working independently and are willing to make decisions while not hesitating to discuss your thoughts with colleagues and school management. You have preferably worked as a school counselor with children and adolescents and are used to conversing with them and their parents. You have a strong interest in working based on the school's mission, and you are curious and interested in development work based on the school counselor's role in student health's mission regarding promoting, preventing, and early interventions in schools. As a person, you are confident in yourself and have the ability to see and take advantage of differences. You are accustomed to expressing yourself verbally and in writing in a professional manner. Experience from work within social services and/or social work is an advantage. You have excellent collaboration skills, are good at listening, and communicate with others constructively. You have the ability to create and maintain social relationships and choose to see opportunities instead of obstacles. In your work, you see it as natural to plan and organize effectively. Personal suitability is of great importance.
